Taking to the mission of PHW’s “belief in human resilience”. I am a big advocate for self-determination and exploration of what resiliency means to my clients. And empowering them with that. Also pushing the mission’s idea of “sometimes adverse life experiences can create defense mechanisms that can complicate or inhibit our journey towards self-actualization”. I have dedicated my career towards implementing trauma-informed care as a basis of my practice philosophy. It is my passion to help clients throughout this therapeutic journey find their true sense of self and discovering the inner voice of strength that they didn’t realize they had all along.
As a Licensed Social Worker specializing in individual, couples, teens, and adolescents building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship and rapport is essential for success within treatment which, I don’t take for lightly. I received my master’s degree in social work, with a concentration in generalist practice.
As Certified in Drug and Alcohol counselor, I have experience with behavior modification and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for those learning how to cease their cravings while learning how to reframe their thinking towards the addiction itself. I have also been successful in modifying behavior with persons struggling with Conduct or Oppositional Defiant behaviors.
With over eight years’ experience as a clinical therapist and a graduate of Delaware State University with my Master’s in Social Work, I specialized in psychodynamic therapy. Among my areas of expertise include but not limited to persons suffering from, a history of trauma, depression, anxiety, restorative justice for persons formerly incarcerated, sexual identity-related concerns, and many more.
In addition to relationship therapy, I enjoy working with persons challenged with personality dynamics, crisis intervention, along with any issues related to African Americans and therapy. Currently, as I pursue my Doctorate at Widener University, I am publicly speaking and leading workshops on the ideology of acculturation and its influences on therapy.
I am an interactive, solution-focused, relational, emotionally focused therapist. Outside of CBT and I have learned to integrate Mindfulness techniques to assist with distress tolerance. Among narrative and or reality-based testing there are many therapeutic approaches that I take when assisting my clients. The most important approach that I find to have the best reward is my insistence to be client-centered while promoting a strengths-based perspective. Throughout the session, we will look at your environment as well and how that plays a role in your well-being or dysfunction.
My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. With infusing complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with everyone to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
In the end, I truly enjoy helping people find solutions to their problems and find ways to live the life my clients most desire.
